Our Practice
40 Years of Experience
We’ve developed an extremely effective approach by integrating over 15 different acupuncture systems, including Chinese, Japanese and electro-acupuncture.
On Staff at Emerson Hospital
At Emerson, we’ve treated in-patient for pain, labor & delivery and oncology for over 15 years. In addition, we followup all outpatient visits at our Sudbury office.
Broad Insurance Coverage
Many insurance providers cover acupuncture. Our office regularly works with Blue Cross, Harvard Pilgrim, United Healthcare, Aetna, Tufts, the VA, various state plans and more.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture developed in China approximately 3000 years ago. The theory was based on their understanding of the world at that time. It is a complete medical system with diagnosis, prognosis and treatment — all internally connected. It is, however, quite different from Western medicine. There are no drugs or chemicals on the needles and yet most people experience remarkable improvement for a wide range of symptoms and illnesses. The world Health Organization lists dozens of symptoms and illnesses that are effectively treated with acupuncture.
Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbs are prescribed to normalize imbalanced energy, or Qi, that runs through invisible meridians in the body. At our practice, we utilize Chinese loose herb tea, powder and tablet herbal combinations, and Japanese herbal medicinals to create the optimal preparation. These plant-based preparations are designed to treat the underlying causes of illness rather than individual symptoms.
Cupping & Guasha
Cupping and guasha are powerful techniques that break up congestion, stagnation, and blockage of Qi, thereby restoring the body’s natural flow of energy. In cupping, small glass cups placed on the body create vacuums that disperse Qi. In guasha, a thin hand-held instrument is used to apply focused pressured to the skin. At our practice, we use these techniques to treat pain, reduce inflammation, improve blood flow, induce relaxation and promote general well-being.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) uses a soft touch to release restrictions deep in the body, relieving pain and dysfunction and improving total body health and performance. We test for ease of motion and proper rhythm around the brain and spinal cord, then remove any restrictions to normalize the environment and enhance the body's ability to self-correct.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is an extremely safe, effective and productive way of accessing your own natural resources, healing processes and creative abilities. Sessions guide you through the process of deep thought as you tap into resources you never knew were available and generate answers and physical solutions to your problems and concerns. Your sessions will include valuable suggestions and techniques for home use that have been taken from hypnosis protocols and Chinese Medicine.
